About Gloucester – Our Homeport

Gloucester is a beautiful place, and we’re lucky to work at the original Gorton’s building located right across from Gloucester Harbor. Working in a place so rich in history, we are constantly reminded of our proud past, and of our commitment to provide outstanding products for our consumers well into the future.

Gloucester Harbor was first visited and mapped by Samuel de Champlain in 1605, but it wasn’t until 1623 that Gloucester was founded, making it America’s oldest seaport and the birthplace of the U.S. fishing industry. Since then, Gloucester has been home to a robust art community inspired by Gloucester Harbor and its picturesque scenery and was even the setting for the 2000 feature Film, The Perfect Storm. At its core, Gloucester has always been a fishing homeport.
