ASSOCIATE MARKETING MANAGER

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATE

As a Financial Management Associate, you will initially be assigned to a specific area within the Finance/Accounting Department.  This may include functions such as, General Accounting, Financial Analysis, and Customer Finance.  You will be expected to fully understand the various aspects of Gorton’s business and make improvement recommendations.  You will work closely with peers and senior managers in other disciplines, particularly in marketing, sales and operations.  You will be expected to progress into broader assignments.  The goal of the Financial Management Associate position is to offer a rotational experience within Finance/Accounting, exposing you to multiple departments and projects, along with an expectation to progress into broader assignments.

SYSTEMS ANALYST ASSOCIATE

This position within the IT Department will report to the Manager of Business Systems. You will participate on cross-functional teams for the evaluation and implementation of improvements to our application systems. You will assist in the development of detailed project plans for all phases of the project life cycle. You will be participating in maintaining the required databases. In addition, you will also use programming languages to create application front-ends and provide support for existing applications. This is an entry-level position in which you will participate on cross-functional project teams for the evaluation, selection, programming and implementation of new applications and the support of existing systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Systems coordination - Including design specifications and systems documentation
  • Project Management - Developing plans and timelines including participation on project teams
  • Applications Development - Work on relational databases, programming and documentation

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY INTERN

Gorton’s, America’s leader in frozen seafood since 1849, has an Internship opportunity for individuals seeking experience in Information Technology (IT). As an Information Technology Intern you will have the opportunity to participate on projects within either Development and/or Infrastructure depending on business needs and your interest. Within Gorton’s IT setting you will participate in a team environment discussing actual business issues and developing solutions. Possible projects and assignments include:

  • Developing enhancements to core business applications
  • Participating on Gorton’s Business Intelligence Team – using Microsoft BI tools to create various cubes, reports, and dashboards
  • Assisting in the optimization of Gorton’s internal Sharepoint portal
  • Researching new technology trends and opportunities
  • Aiding the IT department in complying with Sarbanes/Oxley regulations

SALES ASSOCIATE

Gorton’s, America’s leader in frozen seafood since 1849, has an entry level opportunity for an individual interested in a career in grocery products sales. The Sales Associate is a developmental role where you will grow into becoming a grocery products sales professional, who eventually manages Gorton’s business within specific accounts or geographic area. Gorton’s offers the combination of an entrepreneurial spirit often found in small organizations, along with the opportunity to be part of an innovative consumer products leader with global resources.

As a Sales Associate, you will initially be based at our Gloucester, Massachusetts headquarters but will travel extensively across the US and Canada to contribute to field sales initiatives. Your responsibilities will include the execution of sales programs including: supporting retail merchandising results by conducting retail audits and working to improve retail presence, fostering innovative retail concepts, including generating ideas related to retail displays, retail contests and retail surveys, ensuring “authorized products are on shelf in a timely manner, conducting sales analysis, assisting with development of customer presentations and sales agent management. You will act as a liaison with the Marketing area, be involved with Sales Planning and participate in customer calls. You will receive training on sales analysis tools, personal effectiveness, presentation skills, interpersonal styles and other areas. Over time, you will be given greater responsibility and independence in the development and implementation of sales initiatives to help grow our business. Eventually, you will be expected to relocate (at Gorton’s expense) to a field based location. You will need to effectively collaborate with customers, sales agents and cross-functional teams made up of individuals in other disciplines, including extensive involvement with our Marketing activity. The goal of this program is to develop talented individuals for greater responsibility with the Gorton’s sales activity.

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with evidence of academic success (prefer Business degree with Marketing or Professional Selling major)

  • Experience/exposure to grocery products industry is attractive, but not required
